It’s this powerful message that FNB’s latest commercial in their new “Bank of #TheChangeables” campaign needed to communicate. And one that all of us at Spitfire identified with immediately due to our longstanding commitment to growing new talent in the industry. Bright ideas, bright performances, bright style – it’s gotta be Katlego and Sol.
Over the years Sol Beer has built its brand on being light, bright and refreshingly fun. So when Rapt Creative created a new series of ads for their client, they needed someone with the same sense of irreverence with a distinctive style.
Enter Katlego Baaitse. With his agency background Katlego is super skilled in crystal clear communication, along with an amazing ability to get outstanding performances from his cast. And what a cast! You want bright? You want fun? You want to taste the sun? Then you want Mandisa “MandzNotHot” Jakavula, Farieda 'Pharoahfi' Metsileng and Lindah Majola. What followed was a crazy two-day shoot where everyone and everything just popped – and came together in eight quirky, totally out-there ads that did too.

The Brave Group is renowned for their brave work. And in creating the Grant’s Crew Battle campaign for their client Grant’s Whisky, they wanted a director equally brave. Spitfire’s youngest Black director, JT, was their man.Supported by a strong all-female production team (producer Baleseng, production manager Relebohile and director-in-training Hloni), JT was up for the challenge and then some. Three crews, four challenges and a 12-hour shoot day later, Brave and Grant’s got themselves a winner. As the original content creators, we do all things content. Katlego created a stunningly styled and heart-warmingly humorous campaign of work that sees Senzo & Siyanda, a daddy and daughter bakery team, passionately motivate small business owners to “rise” together and grow their businesses with the help of iKhokha. A series of short teaser films, supported by product-led posters, led up to short standalone product and brand spots before breaking the main brand commercial, again supported by print executions showcasing Senzo & Siyanda as iKhokha’s “brand ambassadors”. Katlego’s talent for outstanding performance, comedic timing and gorgeous cinematography shines through brighter – literally and figuratively! – than ever before. Take a look for yourself.
